NordicTrack manufactures different models of treadmills.
I own a NordicTrack treadmill C700 which comes with a normal digital display console, and with buttons on it.
There are some commercial series of NordicTrack treadmill by default equipped with a touch screen console, without button on it.

Issues with NordicTrack Treadmill Console
- Treadmill console won’t turn on
I believe this is one of the most common NordicTrack Treadmill issues that always happen.
When you power on the treadmill, but the console not powering on.
In this case, the first thing you should do is to check whether the safety key is properly inserted as shown in the image below:
Read this post if you have lost your treadmill key and would like to DIY one.
Without safety key, the NordicTrack treadmill won’t be able to supply power to its console.
If your safety key is not working, read this post for the troubleshooting guide.
If the safety key is properly inserted but there is still no sight of power, consider inspect the power cable for any damage.
Another reason for power lost includes the blown fuse.
Since the treadmill consumes a lot of power to operate, if you are using any power extension, make sure the fuse of the power extension is not being burnt.
In my case, the fuse of my power extension burnt few times in the last few years.
- Console buttons not working and unresponsive
The most common reason for this issue is due to the connection.
Please inspect if the cable connection between the console and the electrical board is secured.
For my treadmill, the “Quick Connector” is located under the console as shown in the image below:
I would suggest you to first power off the treadmill, disconnect the connector, and reconnect it back.
Sometimes the simple disconnect and reconnect trick will fix the issue.
If this problem still persists, I would doubt that the electrical board of the console is the main culprit.
You may simply open the console by unscrew it, and inspect if the board has any sign of damage or burn as shown in the image below.
Besides, it is always a good idea to check if all the internal connections are connected tightly and securely.

- Wrong readings on the console display
Imagine when you try to set the speed to 6km/h, but the console is displaying a wrong speed during the workout session.
This is indeed annoying and can affect your workout goal.
I did experience this personally, and you can see that my treadmill was not showing the correct Speed readings on the console compared to the speed I selected.
Here’s the video I am talking about.
The main reasons for this issue is due to the malfunction of the speed sensor or the belt tension.
The treadmill’s motor comes with speed sensor to help the treadmill to control the speed.
Besides speed, the other readings on the console like Calories might also mismatch with the Apple Watch readings if you wear Apple Watch, any fitness watch or wristband during the workout session.

To access the speed sensor, first you would need to open the motor cover of the treadmill.
At the same time, what display on the console are the reading interpreted from the speed sensor.
If the speed sensor is not working correctly, it won’t be able to output correct readings to the console.
Another thing that will affect the speed of the treadmill is the belt tension.
It is not optimum if the belt tension is either too low or too tight as it might cause the belt not moving issue.
I have written a post about treadmill belt off centre issue and I did show how to adjust the tension of the belt.
Please refer to the post above on the correct way to adjust belt tension.
- Treadmill console display is flickering
In this case, I would suggest you to make sure you have a stable power input for the treadmill.
The console display flickering issue is normally due to unstable power supply.
Voltage fluctuations can also do more harm than good to the treadmill.
I have a voltage stabilizer as shown in the image below that making sure my treadmill receives stable power when it operates.
- Error codes on console display
The NordicTrack treadmill has various sensors on its components to detect if any unusual things happen.
If there is any fault happens, the treadmill will display the error code on the console display for you to troubleshoot why this error is happening.
The treadmill will stop working in this case due to safety concern.
Since there are different models of NordicTrack treadmill, I would suggest you to check back the user manual of your treadmill.
Or you can simply Google “NordicTrack treadmill ” + Model Number + ” User manual PDF” to download the user manual of your treadmill model.
- Console keeps beeping
As stated in this post related to the treadmill beeping problem, it can be due to the following:
- Calibration
- motor brush covers popped off
- Loose and dusty connectors
- Worn or damaged ribbon cables
- iFit’s fault (Connect NordicTrack Treadmill via Bluetooth correctly)
There are different ways to troubleshoot and fix the console beeping issue.
First you would need to find the root cause of it and apply specific solution dedicated to fix that problem.
Conclusion
The console is an important component of a NordicTrack treadmill.
If the console is not working properly, the entire machine will also not be able to function as desired.
Please share if you face any similar NordicTrack console issue in the comment box below.
Treadmill won’t start. Screen lights up but is blank. Nothing else works. Help me please?
Is there any buttons on your treadmill, are they still working as usual?
Or it is a full touch screen model?
You can check if there is any “Quick Connector” behind the console.
Try to disconnect and reconnect it back.
Sometimes this simple trick works.
Or else you might need to open up to console cover to check what’s wrong inside the console.
Elite 7700 is receiving power. But after resetting the power switch , Screen shows “Android” and nothing works.
Hi Kurt,
Probably you could try to turn the power on and off for few more times.
If it is still not working, you can try to Recalibrate the treadmill.
To calibrate NordicTrack treadmill:
– Hold the Speed Up Button and Stop Button at the same
– Insert the safety key and remove it
– Try this multiple times or many many times until the screen showing that the treadmill is now successfully recalibrated
screen reads sd card damaged and cant get any response from touch pads. tried changing sd cards with same results.
C2500 will not turn on and only displays a race. I normally use my treadmill for just one speed (no race). Can you help?
Mine has a touch screen and all of the buttons work except the home screen which is what I need to be able to actually use the treadmill. The screen needs to be recalibrated I’m sure, but any idea why the home button to the side of the screen will not respond to touch; the menu and back buttons there with it are both working fine.
Hi, I have an S 20i Nordic track treadmill which has suddenly stopped working. The display will not light up. I’ve taken off the cover and the green light on the circuit board is on. Any idea what it could be?
