💡Rowing Calculation Tips
Until you know how it works, the apparent relationship between rowing power and pace feel unfair. It takes a lot more effort to go a few seconds quicker on a 500 meter split than you think. The required power increase in a surprising way for many rowers. The relationship is actualy cubic, which means dropping the split even a modest amount can make the rower feel underpowered even though their strength hasn’t changed. The mathematics are responsible, not lack of motivation.
Each of those variables affect the way that math plays out in training. Why do we care about body weight? Watts per kilogram tell us whether our power is impressive for someone of our size, or whether it is merely average. Why do we care about drag factor? It affects resistance of machine against each stroke, and thus how much a particular split will cost you. Why do we care about stroke rate? Because the same number of watts feels differently at thirty two strokes per minute compared to say, twenty four.
Why Use a Rowing Calculator?
