If you know the proper sequence, fixing a treadmill are simple. Before grabbing for your screwdriver, start figuring out what is going wrong. Is the belt just riding off to the side?
Identify the Problem First
The belt slipping in the foot pedal? Is the console blanking out? Knowing exactly what the issue is will save you many hours spent taking apart things for no reason.
For instance, if the belt is slipping on your foot it’s either too loose or there is no lube on the deck. If your screen blacks out, don’t jump to assuming your motor are dead. Oftentimes this can be a sign of a loose power connection or tripped circuit breaker.
Check simplest things first. Although it seems like a small thing, failing to do so can result in you tearing down a perfect working motor over a missed loose plug. The biggest complaint is that the belt drifts off-center, which causes uneven wear and eventually leads to fraying.
Adjust Belt Tension and Position
There are two rear adjustment bolts on your Bowflex. One on each side adjust both belt position and tension. Turning the left side (right if you’re looking from behind) move the belt left.
Adjust by making quarter turns only. Run the belt for 30 seconds, check the position, and then adjust it again. Common mistake is over tightening.

Fix Console and Sensor Issues
Bad connections: Console issues often stem from poor connections. Harness wires connects to the main board and go through to the console, which records speed and shows it on display screen. Over time these wires gets vibration that loosens them up.
Take the cover off the console, unplug it and reseat the connectors making sure they snap into place. Sensors for dust: The optical sensors reads how fast the belt is moving. They too can be dirty.
