Drop down onto a plank and begin driving your knees towards your chest. At first, it feels like any other repetition during your workout: the first half-minute flies by. Then at the one-minute mark, your core begins to shake and your shoulders burn. You question whether you’re merely punishing yourself for punishment’s sake or if this exercise actualy has any impact on your metabolism.

Mountain climbers appear simple. It’s a plank with a few small variations, right? But because mountain climbers requires core stability, cardiovascular endurance, and coordination at the same time, they becomes difficult to measure.

Why Mountain Climbers Are Hard to Measure
