Army Ranger PFT Calculator

Check fixed Ranger gate events for push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, the 5-mile run, the 12-mile ruck, and swim confidence, then layer in age-and-sex rep context where it actually belongs.

📌Preset Ranger Profiles

These nine presets span direct gate passes, ruck-heavy builds, and packet cases where rep reserve looks fine but one event still blocks a Ranger-ready outcome.

💡Tips

Tip: If your reps are already over the gate but the 5-mile run is still over 40:00, chase mile-split control first. More push-up volume will not fix a pacing miss.
Tip: Use the age-band reserve cards to spot whether your raw rep base is truly climbing or just barely clearing the fixed Ranger line on a good day.
DisclaimerThis calculator is an educational planning tool only. As of May 3, 2026, the Army Fitness Test is the Army test of record, while Ranger School and Ranger screening still use separate gate events and local guidance. Always verify packet requirements, ruck load rules, swim instructions, and official score sheets with your unit, schoolhouse, or recruiter.

The Ranger School packet will require me to pass several specific physical tests. These physical tests is used to filter the individuals who applies for the Ranger School to ensure that each individual applicant can perform under conditions of fatigue. The specific tests that will assess an individual’s physical strength are the following: push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, a five mile run, a twelve-mile ruck march with thirty-five pound, and a fifteen-meter swim in a uniform.

An individual must pass each of these tests to pass the Ranger School packet. If an individual fails any of the physical test required for the Ranger School packet, they wont be able to pass the Ranger School packet. Each of these physical tests is the same for each individual applicant, regardless of there age or sex.

Ranger School Fitness Tests

Thus, each individual must pass the same standards for each of the physical tests in order to qualifying for the Ranger School. For instance, an individual must be able to perform forty-nine push-ups within a two-minute time limit, and must be able to perform fifty-nine sit-ups within the same time period. These tests of muscular endurance is required because individuals will have to perform other physical tasks after having already become fatigued.

Additionally, an individual must be able to perform six strict pull-ups from a dead hang to ensure that they have the upper body strength required for tasks within the Ranger School. An individual must also be able to run five mile in under forty minutes, or forty minutes and under, which would be an eight minute per mile pace. For the twelve-mile ruck march test, individuals will be required to run twelve miles in under three hours while carrying thirty-five pound, or a fifteen-minute-per-mile pace.

It is possible for an individual to be strong in one physical test for the Ranger School packet yet weak in another test. For instance, an individual may be able to perform sixty push-ups yet be unable to maintain an eight-minute-per-mile pace for the five-mile run. Thus, the five-mile run and the ruck march are two of the limiters for individuals.

This tool will allow each individual to identify their limiters for the Ranger School packet. Furthermore, this tool will use information regarding an individual’s age and sex to provide context for their performance relative to others of their age and sex, but the age and sex information wont impact an individual’s required pass line for the Ranger School packet. However, knowing an individual’s reserve (relative to those of their age and sex) will help to indicate whether or not they will be able to pass the Ranger School packet.

An individual will be required to maintain a pace of fifteen minutes per mile for the ruck march. This fifteen-minute-per-mile pace is required for conserve energy for other tasks. An individual will move faster on the ground without the thirty-five pound load that they will have to carry during the ruck march.

Furthermore, running without the thirty-five pound load will not indicate an individual’s ability to mimic the movement required to complete a ruck march while carrying that load. Thus, an individual should focus on performing loaded hikes to establish a consistent rhythm for their ruck marches. An individual must be able to swim fifteen meters in a uniform to pass the Ranger School physical test packet.

While failing the swim test will not reduce an individual’s score for the Ranger School packet, they will not be able to pass the packet if they fail the swim test. Thus, an individual should honestly assess their swimming abilities, as well as verify their swimming abilities while under stress (while wearing the uniform). The tools provided will allow an individual to benchmark their readiness for the Ranger School packet.

There are different profiles for different types of soldiers that will be required for the Ranger School, such as individuals that barely pass the push-up and sit-up tests, or individuals that are strong in their rucking yet weak in their running skill. Thus, an individual can use these pre-established profiles to adjust their training plan to meet their individual needs. Furthermore, the tool will provide an individual with a readiness score between a rebuild score of below three hundred and a ready-now score of above four hundred and twenty-five.

If an individual passes the six physical tests, they will be considered to be in the game. However, if they pass only five out of the six physical tests, they should of fixed their limiter. For instance, strict form is required for the pull-up test, and strict pull-ups are more important than high number of pull-ups with less strict form.

An individual must maintain even splits for their five-mile run, as starting too fast may cause them to weaken later in the five-mile race. Additionally, building sit-ups with planks and twists will help an individual to develop the core strength needed for sit-up tests. An individual of a certain age will have a different recovery period than an individual who is twenty year of age.

Actualy, the plan needs alot of work to be moddern. Youre going to recieve a lot of training.
